  My partner had an accident last May whilst on holiday and a temp filling was put in place as emergency treatment. When she got home her regular NHS dentist told her that they didn't recommend removing it at that time so it was left. Last weekend (almost a year later) that filling came loose and she was in quite some pain. Since her regular dentist is about 30 miles away and it takes about 2 weeks to get an appointment we thought we'd get her registered with this local dentist and she took the afternoon off of work to do so. My partner is a member of my corporate denplan policy. When she turned up, after making the appointment, she was refused any treatment stating an analogy that 'you can't go in to an insurance company with an already broken car that another company was looking after' The policy we had has no restrictions on who we see and should not have refused this work as confirmed by Denplan. Considering the initial work was already covered under Denplan, any subsequent work is also covered by ANY dentist that we choose Denplan will now investigate this Dentists membership to the scheme following my complaint and I will also be seeking compensation from the dentist for the time my partner had to take off of work (despite discussing the precise details of the issue over the phone when making the appointment) since she now needs to take further time off to be seen elsewhere, which is a loss of money. Initial letter will be shortly drafted up to the Dentist and then we shall be proceeding with small court action if no response. Strongly avoid this dentist and his attitude to patients that are clearly in pain. If this is the way that he treats private fully covered customers paying in cash, I wouldn't want to be an NHS customer of his!
